The tall gray granite Monument which can be seen in the center of the photo is a special Memorial dedicated to the memory of NWMP Reg.#335, Constable Marmaduke Graburn. He holds the distinct and sad honour of being the first member of the Force to be shot and killed on duty. It was November 17, 1879 near Fort Walsh, SK.
Constable Graburn was buried at Fort Walsh, SK. He was 19 years of age. R. I. P.
The Graburn Monument was furnished by Constable Graburn's Troopmates many years ago.
The Graburn Monument stands in a very prominant position at the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery, Ottawa, ON.
