True and Fascinating Canadian History
In Memory of Reg.#41110,
Corporal Danny Deveau
1954 - 2016
"Undoubtedly, the late retired Corporal Donnie Deveau made a lasting impression on the community he loved in his capacity as a police officer and as a friend to many.
A large crowd of his friends and some family members assembled on the Grand Bank Nature Trail as the ‘Friends of Donnie' held a ceremony dedicating a memorial site in his honour.
Deveau’s sister Lynda McEwen travelled from Nova Scotia to be part of the ceremony honouring her brother, who passed away on February 11the, 2016
The site consisting of a bench bearing the RCMP crest, a sign and a small flowerbed is located on the trail just below the salmon ladder – a place where Donnie and his dog Daisy often stopped to rest, where he gave his dog a treat and maybe a drink in the brook and where both enjoyed the beauty of the area.
After cancer sidelined Deveau from his police duties, he and his dog walked the nature trail daily as a form of exercise and therapy. His many friends he met on the trail admired him for his courage and determination as he battled his illness." R. I. P.
