The Grey Cup
Going back to almost the founding days of Canada, the battle to win the Grey Cup (since 1909) has been an annual ritual among football teams across Canada. The challenge for supremacy and victory for the celebrated Grey Cup brings high sporting enjoyment to thousands of Canadian fans every year.
Each football player and every coach craves to return home with the Cup, and no one wants to be disappointed. To kiss the Cup and to raise it to the sky is the dream of every Canadian football team.
Over all the years the RCMP has always been included in the official presentation of the Cup to the victor. The presence and colour of the RCMP as the Cup is escorted to center field brings majesty, sentimentality and significance to the winning team.
The celebrated Grey Cup was on display in Ottawa for a week in September, 2016, and one could have a photo taken with the Cup if a donation had been made to Ottawa's Food Bank. My wife Cathy and I were pleased to meet the famous Grey Cup.
The Grey Cup game will be played in Ottawa in 2017. The RCMP will be present to celebrate the game and to present the Grey Cup to the winning team!
